The CDC has recommended a Spring dose of COVID- 19 vaccine for those individuals 65 and older. The Marquette County Health Department offers vaccine appointments Tuesdays and Fridays from 9:00 am to 4:30 pm. Please call to schedule an appointment and to check eligibility.
Presented by the nonprofit organization, the Alliance for Young Artists & Writers, the Scholastic Art & Writing Awards are the country’s longest-running and most prestigious scholarship and recognition program for creative students in grades 7–12. This year, there were 130 total submissions from Upper Peninsula students. Forty-six creative teens from the Upper Peninsula received regional honors, including Gold Keys, Silver Keys, Honorable Mentions, and American Visions & Voices nominations, from the local Scholastic Awards Affiliate Northern Shores Storywork Writing Project.
The featured visual artists in this year’s exhibition are – Reese Collins, Eleanor Dohrenwend, Cat Ernsberger, Morgyn Hansen, Nynna Jarvi, Brooke Johnson, Hannah Josefsen, Natalie Joyal, Madeline Meilahn, Gabrielle Myers, Arianna Paananen, Isabelle Recollet, Savanna Rautio, Miles Spaulding, Lilia Skoglund, Addisyn Sundberg, Esme Ulland-Joy, Lila Witham, and Quinley Wonch

Cindy Silva of Great Lakes Gems will teach how to bend and work with wire while making your very own hand-made piece of jewelry you can be proud of. All tools and materials will be provided for this workshop. Choose from an assortment of beads, crystals, cultured sea glass, gem stones and charms to make your work of art. Youth participants can create a necklace or backpack charm. Adults can create a necklace or earrings.
Down Wind Sports Winter Demo Day
Down Wind Sports of Houghton, MI will be sponsoring a cross-country ski and snowshoe demo day. They’ll provide:• Cross-country skis, boots & poles• Snowshoes• Friendly guidance for beginners
This event is designed for families, kids, first-timers, and all ages. Meadowbrook Arena will be open for restrooms and warm-up space. Coffee, hot chocolate, water, and cookies will be provided. Let’s make Demo Day the perfect place to gather and enjoy a winter day.

Share the Trail... Ski & Snowshoe Outing
Join Mark Roberts and friends from the Keweenaw Hiking and Skiing Society (KHSS) for a relaxed, social ski or snowshoe on the beautiful Pinery Lakes Trail. This is a welcoming, no-pressure outing meant to bring people together outdoors.
